MainEnvironment_Level Design_Dev04

After we deciding our mechanism, I’m going to work on the visuals side in our main environment.

#1 Path

I’m thinking of achieving the sense of a stone-made cemetery via textures or models.

I used Cloner in C4D, but it doesn’t look good. And it will be filled with rocks based on every vertex, it would be expensive on performance.

Personally, I prefer Version 02. But since it’s made of models, I don’t know how the performance in VR.

I found it may look repetitive from the side view, so I am thinking to change the pattern in the follow up.

1. Stairs

a.Function

Based on user testing, we need to fix the issue of bumpy transitions on staircases.

I am trying to rebuild the stairs using ProBuilder.

ProBuilder Test

It sorts the bumpy issue going up, but it still got issues in going down.

Visually, Probuilder can’t create stairs without connections.

In order to solve the going down shaking issue, we created a slope as a collider, but find we met the same situation.

Ria searched this issue and found a tutorial.

2. Rope climbing

Based on the results of the last user testing, I am going to modify the appearance of the grabber to ensure intuitive usage for users.

Additionally, to enable easy vertical movement, I have added two ropes and included arrows on the grabber to indicate the direction.

3. Rock climbing

In order to solve the repetitive actions’ problems, I added a platform in the middle to provide a smoother transition and decrease consecutive repetitive actions.

Additionally, I have enhanced user feedback by incorporating sound and haptic feedback to improve the overall user experience.

4.Artists’ Room Portal

Moodboard

Rather than use a door directly, we can make it looks like a grave.

Considering the portal effect, we still need a hole rather than an entire monument. So I’m thinking I can use stone/grave to build it like a door.
